Professional career

In January 1981, he began his professional career at Banca Commerciale Italiana S.p.A.

In 2003, he was made Head of Large Corporate & Structured Finance Department of the Corporate Division of Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A.

From 2005 to 2009, he was Head of the Large & Mid-Corporate Department of the Corporate Division of Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A.

In 2008, he was made Coordinator of the International Network Department of the Corporate and Investment Banking Division of Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A.

In 2009, he was made Head of Corporate Relationship Management of the Corporate and Investment Banking Division of Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A.

From 2009 to 2013, he held the position of Regional Manager for Campania, Basilicata, Calabria and Puglia, as well as being General Manager of Banco di Napoli S.p.A. (760 branches); in 2011, he became Regional Manager for Sicily (940 branches).

From 2012 to 2013, he took over management of the Banca dei Territori Division of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group (with responsibility of all segments of the retail, private banking and corporate business – companies with sales up to 150 million euro – and the product companies – asset management, consumer finance, insurance products and credit cards) with direct responsibility for more than 20 network banks of the Group and approximately 47,000 employees.

From 2012 to 2013, he was General Manager of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group with responsibility for the Banca dei Territori Division, while remaining interim General Management of Banco di Napoli.

After having resigned from Intesa Sanpaolo Group in June 2013, he was appointed as chairman of Italian Private Debt Initiative of Muzinich & Co. (an institutional asset manager specialising in corporate credit).
